does this work
how about this
The game begins with characters that have been brought into this world in order to pose a(n initially) quiet countermeasure against a computer intelligence that rigidly controls the environment of said world. The world is populated by various animals and is not meant to be a replica of earth - as such, the familiarity of the native flora and fauna will range depending on your character's world of origin.
Characters based on non-fictionalized real people or religious figures and fandom based OCs are currently not accepted.
Canon characters, non-human characters, original characters, CR-AUs, and player created AUs are, however, please bear in mind that original characters will be given a bit more difficult criteria for acceptance, and that both sets of aus will be highly strictly vetted to meet approval. "Canon" characters are considered to be characters that are extant in any published form (film, literature, television, webseries, cartoons, comic books, &c.), and must be at least four weeks old at the time of application to be admissible.
Similarly, the presence of duplicate characters is currently up to the comfort of those already within the game with said character. Please keep this in mind when filling out this portion of the application as you apply.
Note: Please bear in mind the story is likely to contain adult themes and potential issues regarding survival and psychological elements. Similarly, while not a sex game, sex isn't forbidden. Players must be at least eighteen and characters must be at least mentally capable of handling borderline apocalyptic scenarios. Given that all threads must be warned for, younger characters are able to be applied for, but they will be vetted more heavily than others.
Dead characters are perfectly fine, but those with little canon will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Generally speaking if you have to resort to headcanon more than half the time or you can't point to multiple canonical instances to explain key points of character, then it's unlikely. Reasonable inferences are allowed - trying to make a legitimate character out of Walden McNair isn't.
High limit at the moment is four, but following your second you must prove you can consistently make activity checks for two rounds before applying for a third. Basically, there have to be two full application rounds between your second and third characters, so if you app your second in June, you can app your third in September.
In this vein, you may not play multiple characters with significant interaction from the same canon. This is up to mod discretion.
It's a long time, we know, but it's to discourage certain impulse apping trends and to help with squatting. That said, if you choose to drop one of the two, you can app your new!second without a waiting period.
Awesome, thanks for asking! Members need two proofs and a short explanation of how their character has been contributing to the camp per AC period. Proofs are as follows:
» # comments in a network postGiven the nature of roles within the game cycling amongst the characters, sometimes background roles will need to be filled that can be handwaved and explained instead. However, an explanation must still be given and be reasonable, and the proofs will consistently need to be met.
» # comments in a log post
» 1 post in the network community (must have replies)
» 1 post in the logs community (must have replies)
» # comments within the AC period in IC inboxNote: This is fully intended to be a backtag heavy game, so threads started in the immediately previous AC period are still viable as long as the comments are within the current one, but threads originating prior to that are not. Given the game's reliance on player action for development, consistent forward movement - even if slow - is necessary.
Write-ups should be relatively brief but at least one paragraph, and while it is fully permissible for your character not to have contributed much, be aware that there may be IC consequences. Similarly, if your character is attempting to be too useful in a high-profile manner, there will also potentially be IC consequences, owing to the game's setting. Revisions on write-ups are subject to mod-approval but reasons will be given if requested.
You may only be on haitus and miss an AC check once per three months or you will receive a warning. Failure to reply to AC entirely will immediately give you a warning. Those on warning status have no additional AC requirements but must meet AC for two consecutive AC periods before apping anyone new, and if they miss either one of those periods they will be dropped from the game barring extenuating circumstances.
All players must submit AC unless they were:
» accepted before the third week of that AC periodPlayers may still contact the mods regarding extenuating circumstances after AC has been posted, but you're more likely to receive a better answer if you do so beforehand. Rest assured though, if real life is honestly making you take it long and hard, we totally understand this is just an RP.
» on haitus for at least ten consecutive days of that AC period
» players who have arranged plot-related exemptions for their characters
» players who have contacted the mods regarding extenuating circumstances prior to AC going upThings that don't count as proofs:
» multiple threads for comment count within the same post if the post originated with your characterBasically we mean you need consecutive comments from your character to reach the comment counts for proofs.
» threads within one network post that are a result of threadjacking if no single "branch" meets the minimum network AC requirement
» consistently threading opposite the same character
» comments from threads originating more than one AC period prior to the current AC period
» adding up multiple threads within one community to reach minimum requirements
At this time, characters may only arrive with anything that was on their person, or nearby that they might have grabbed if they felt like they were suddenly about to fall over.
The ratio is 1:1 because honestly it's just way too much effort keeping up with anything else. Backtag all you want, but days are days.
Characters arrive in whatever state they are being pulled from, with whatever or at least most of what was on their person. FULL ARRIVAL TEXT LINK HERE. Put it on Barney.
Anything world-breaking will have to be nerfed just to ensure the narrative can.. Exist. Otherwise players may retain any preternatural abilities they may possess. As a note for the future though, be prepared for powers to at some point potentially act erratically.
It's up to you if you want them to have to deal with attempting to find it on this planet (which will be possible), or if they find themselves suddenly able to live without whatever it is.
Great! Neither are any of the planet's current non-PC occupants.
They have small devices and access to a low frequency network that allows for text-based communication amongst themselves. Their current network is broad owing to BARNE-E's ability to link to existing networks under the radar, but it will only support text-to-text and scrolling text-comment-tree text communication - no images, no sound, no programs or applications.
